Quilt 38 - Under the Sea!

 Another quilt using leftover fabrics! What fun!

 I found a fish fabric for the back I already had, too,

and finished it with a nice machine binding!

Quilt 37 - Raspberries!

I officially quit doing long arm quilting for others this past week when I had another birthday pass. After nine years, I thought it was time to get moving on some more of my quilts. It was a hard decision as I had so many wonderful customers but I can already tell I made the right decision!

Here is the first quilt I made with leftovers from another quilt.

 I've always been a fan of strippy quilts!

 Always the close-up and 

the backing! Why do I like fun backs?? I guess it's the surprise factor and also a way to use up the rest of the extra pieces. About an 1/8" of a yard of fabric is all that was left of these scraps.

Quilt 35 & 36 - Black & White Quilts!

This is the 2010 Black and White BOM I worked on again this year. Finally completed, and glad I went forward with it!

 This quilt was made for a great nephew who was born on the 4th of July. That will be an easy birthday to remember.

 I followed the theme and colors shared with me.

It was a fun quilt to design!

Quilts 32 & 33!

 I took scraps from Lacey's baby quilt and made this quilt for a baby girl. It's always amazing how many scraps you have left over, isn't it?

 Here it is quilted with some hearts and daisies!

 Then, scraps still left, I made this dolly quilt for Lacey for Christmas. She loves her baby dolls and always has several in her crib at night with her.

I used a soft minkie for the back. 

Quilts 25 - 29! Charity Quilts!

 These are scraps left from Under the Big Top that I made last summer for a great nephew.

 This is a charity quilt and I also have learned a neat way to sew the binding on entirely by machine. 

Here is a close up!!

 These are leftover pieces from the Chevron quilt I made for another great nephew earlier this year.

 What shall I do??

 I am pretty fond of strippy quilts so I started putting pieces in rows, cutting up a few larger pieces and all of a sudden I had a cool finished quilt!

 I am afraid my binding stretched the edges a little. 

I like this basket weave pantograph for this quilt, giving it a contemporary feel to go along with the colors.

And here is another machine sewn binding!

 I used the above pattern for the next three quilts. So quick and easy and cool results!

 Again, leftover fabrics from a quilt I made last year. Isn't it amazing how much fabric is leftover sometimes, even from a kit?!

and, a pieced back - just happened to have these fabrics in the closet, waiting for a use.

 This began with a pile of scraps as I was cleaning out my closet and giving fabric away a couple of weeks ago.

 I began pressing it, cutting it up in rectangles, added some fun polka dots and bright fabrics and all of a sudden I had two more baby quilts made.

 I used swirls on both of them - one a pantograph and one freehand. The above quilt binding was a bright turquoise.

 I did buy this cool backing drastically reduced at a quilt shop as I realized the colors were perfect for these quilt tops in the making.

 Looks like this is the pantograph!

 Finished with a binding of sunflowers like the back!

Back two! Whew, I think I'll take a break and rest!

Quilt 19 - Chevron Quilt for Ari

 My niece who is having her third child in February. Her colors are gray and white with a chevron pattern. After I bought all these fabrics for her quilt, I found the actual chevron pattern at two quilt shops. Oh well, I'll go with my own creativity.

 I found this simple pattern at Crazy Mom Quilts and it was really simple to make without having to cut any triangles. You end up trimming the edges to square it up!

 Here was the finished design. I tried many different layouts and chose this.

Quilt 17!

I have two great nephews coming soon so it's time for more baby quilts!

 This fabric was chosen because of the nautical theme for the baby's room. It is a simple pattern, Snapshots, from the book, Happy Hour, by Atkinson Designs.

Here is a close up. I was really happy that I decided to do the binding on the bias with the stripe. Just adds a special touch to it in my opinion. The parents were thrilled with the quilt and hopefully Alston is, too. 

Week Seventeen - Quilt Fourteen - Wonky X's!

I made this quilt top in Florida in the spring and added borders last week. It had come from a layer cake but I just happened to have the inner border and binding from a 'grab bag' I had bought at a local quilt shop. So, that worked out well.

 The last two backings I've done were not very creative so I decided to take just a little more time and add some pizazz to the back. I think it worked!

Week Four - Quilt Four - Under the Big Top!

 Now this quilt was totally made in the past week. In fact, I think I began it last Thursday, but as you can see, it is quick and easy and the fabric makes the quilt. I even put a very simple quilt design so as not to take away from the Circus! 

I bought the fabrics at Intown Quilters in Decatur, GA, and the pattern is free from Blend Fabrics. Intown had some kits made up with the pink fabrics but this quilt is for a great nephew to be born in August so I wanted the blue and greens. Here is the link to the pattern, Bailey. Really was fun and easy! So, that's my quilt for this week!

Lest you think I have lots of quilt tops all made up to quilt or bind - I don't. I only have one left to bind and one completed top to quilt and that is it. I'll be 'on my own' to produce more quilts quickly. I'm excited with my challenge and hope you come back to see how the quilts are coming along!
